Top 10 Scala Must Read Books

Dear friends, I would like to share my knowledge about Scala Books.

As per my understandings, there are the top 10 Scala books to  learn Scala in depth and become expert in Scala FP and OOP.

Top has high priority and useful for some experience Scala Developers

  1. Functional Programming In Scala ,2nd Edition (Manning Publications)
  2. Programming Scala, 2nd Edition (oreilly)
  3. Pragmatic Scala, Pragmatic Bookshelf
  4. Programming Scala, 2nd Edition (Martin Odersky)
  5. Scala In Action (Manning Publications)
  6. Scala In Depth (Manning Publications)
  7. Scala for the Impatient (Addison-Wesley Professional)
  8. Scala Cookbook, O'Reilly
  9. Learning Scala, O'Reilly
  10. Beginning Scala, 2nd Edition (Apress)

I have given this rating based on the following factors
  • Highest priority for FP
  • Highest priority for latest versions

Beginning Scala, 2nd Edition (Apress) is very nice book for beginners but not covered in-depth concepts.

Functional Programming In Scala ,2nd Edition (Manning Publications) is very fantastic book because covered all FP concepts in depth. Useful for some experience Scala Developers.

Programming Scala, 2nd Edition (oreilly) is also nice book. But not intended for just for FP also covered OOP.

Scala for the Impatient (Addison-Wesley Professional) is best book for Java Developers to learn Scala within no time. But not updated to new features and also not covered FP concepts in-depth.
